Ugandan Post-Election Protests and Clashes

On January 16, 2026, large protests erupted in Kampala and other parts of Uganda following disputed results of the 2026 general election. Clashes between opposition supporters and security forces resulted in at least seven protester deaths and more than 300 arrests. Opposition leader Bobi Wine and President Yoweri Museveni were central figures in the political confrontation, which continued amid ongoing tensions over election legitimacy and governance.
